Super Retina XDR
Apple’s premium OLED display — iPhone 12 and later
Super Retina XDR is Apple’s brand name for the advanced OLED displays used in iPhone 12 and later. It offers higher peak brightness (up to 2000 nits outdoors), HDR support, and wide colour (P3). Pro models from iPhone 13 Pro onwards add ProMotion — an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate that drops to 1Hz when idle to save battery.
Why It Matters For Your Repair
Super Retina XDR replacements are the most expensive iPhone screen tier. A Pro model screen costs significantly more than a standard model — even within the same iPhone generation. If a ProMotion (120Hz) panel is replaced with a 60Hz aftermarket panel, you will immediately notice the difference in scrolling smoothness. Always confirm the panel specification matches your model before repair.
