Screen Burn-In
A permanent ghost image etched into your iPhone OLED panel
Screen burn-in is a permanent ghost image on an iPhone OLED panel caused by prolonged display of static content. Navigation bars, keyboard outlines, and status bar icons are the most common causes. The organic pixels physically degrade at different rates depending on what they display — areas showing constant white or bright content age faster. Burn-in is irreversible. The only fix is screen replacement.
Why It Matters For Your Repair
Burn-in is not covered by Apple warranty as it is considered normal wear. Singapore’s outdoor brightness settings — users often run screens at maximum brightness — accelerate OLED pixel degradation faster than in cooler climates. Enabling Auto-Brightness and using Dark Mode reduces burn-in risk significantly.
