Flex Cable
The ribbon cable connecting screen assembly to logic board
A flex cable is a thin, flexible ribbon cable that connects the iPhone screen assembly to the logic board. It carries display signals, touch data, and Face ID or Touch ID data depending on the model. Damage causes flickering, green lines, half-screen failure, or complete display failure — often from a drop or from over-bending during a previous repair.
Why It Matters For Your Repair
A failing flex cable is often misdiagnosed as a screen fault. The diagnostic clue: if flickering changes when you slightly bend the phone, the flex cable is more likely than the panel. On iPhones, careless handling during previous screen replacements is the most common cause of flex cable damage — the cable is easily kinked if the screen is opened at too sharp an angle.
