Flex Cable
The ribbon cable connecting screen to logic board
A flex cable is a thin, flexible ribbon cable that connects the screen assembly to the logic board. It carries display signals, touch data, and sometimes fingerprint sensor data. Damage causes flickering, green lines, or complete display failure. On Z Fold and Z Flip models, the inner hinge flex cable is a known failure point — repeated folding fatigues the cable over time.
Why It Matters For Your Repair
A failing flex cable is often misdiagnosed as a screen fault. The key diagnostic: if flickering changes when the phone is flexed or when the screen angle changes, the flex cable is the more likely cause. On Z Fold devices, flex cable failure is more common than on flat phones due to the mechanical stress of daily folding.
