Dead Pixel
A permanently failed pixel on your Samsung screen
A dead pixel is an individual pixel on a Samsung AMOLED screen that has permanently stopped working. It shows a fixed colour — usually black, white, or a single bright colour — regardless of what the rest of the screen is displaying. A single isolated dead pixel is usually cosmetic. A spreading cluster or expanding dark patch after a drop indicates internal panel damage requiring replacement.
Why It Matters For Your Repair
A single dead pixel on a Samsung screen is generally not worth repairing. It becomes urgent when pixels are spreading, forming a dark patch, or expanding after a drop — which signals the AMOLED panel is fracturing internally. On AMOLED panels, a spreading black patch can grow significantly within days.
