LDI
Liquid Damage Indicator — the sticker that confirms water damage
An LDI (Liquid Damage Indicator) is a small moisture-sensitive sticker placed inside Samsung Galaxy phones that permanently changes colour from white to red or pink when it contacts liquid. Technicians check the LDI as one of the first steps when diagnosing a water-damaged phone. A triggered LDI voids Samsung’s manufacturer warranty immediately.
Why It Matters For Your Repair
Singapore’s tropical humidity is high enough to trigger LDIs even without a direct water exposure — condensation from air conditioning, sweat, and rain all count. A red LDI doesn’t necessarily mean the phone was fully submerged; it means moisture has entered at some point. The LDI status determines whether Samsung will cover a repair under warranty.
