Battery Cycle
One full charge and discharge of your iPhone battery
A battery cycle is one complete charge and discharge — from 100% to 0%, or the cumulative equivalent. Apple rates iPhone batteries to retain 80% capacity at 500 cycles. Every cycle causes permanent, irreversible capacity loss. Singapore’s heat means batteries degrade faster than in cooler climates — heavy users can reach 500 cycles within 18 months.
Why It Matters For Your Repair
Cycle count is the most useful number for evaluating how much life a second-hand iPhone has left. On iPhone 15 and later, you can check cycle count directly under Settings → Battery → Battery Health. On older models, a third-party app or technician tool is needed. A phone with 600+ cycles needs a battery replacement almost immediately.
